Privacy Policy

Last Updated: June 14, 2026

Kami ("Kami," "we," "our," or "us") provides a location-aware social discovery application that helps users discover nearby people, places, events, conversations, and rewards.

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have regarding your information.

By using Kami, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

1. Information We Collect

Information You Provide

When you create or use a Kami account, we may collect:

Instagram Authentication & Connected Content

If you choose to connect Instagram through Meta’s official authentication flow, we may import certain profile information you authorize us to access, such as:

We may analyze authorized profile information and connected content in order to:

We only access information you explicitly authorize through the official Meta authentication process.

Kami does not scrape Instagram profiles or access private Instagram content without authorization.

If you disconnect Instagram, we stop future access through that connection, but previously imported information may remain in your Kami account unless you edit it or request deletion.

Location Information

Kami is a location-aware application and may collect:

We use location information to infer whether you appear to be at or near a place or event, power nearby discovery, show limited presence context to other users, award eligible points, trigger relevant notifications, prevent abuse, and improve app functionality. Kami may also use location and presence information to:

Kami does not intend to publicly display your exact GPS coordinates to other users, but certain features may show that you are nearby, present at a place or event, or part of a nearby Kami user count. Kami is designed around participation and presence in the moment—not long-term tracking of your movement history for unrelated purposes.

Kami may offer controls such as Ghost Mode or Pause Mode. These controls may limit how your presence appears to other users or temporarily stop certain location-based features, but they may not remove all previously generated records or prevent processing needed for security, fraud prevention, debugging, or legal compliance.

You can control location permissions through your device settings.

Wall Posts, Photos, and Uploaded Images

When you upload a photo or wall post, we collect the content you submit and related information such as the place or event it was posted to, the time it was posted, and the account that posted it. If you include text or a caption, we collect that as well.

Uploaded images may be associated with your user account, the place or location page where posted, any post text or caption, a timestamp, and report or moderation status if the post is reported.

Photos and wall posts are intended to be shared within the app and may be visible to other users according to app functionality. We may process images to reduce file size and may remove certain metadata where feasible. We do not guarantee that all image metadata is removed.

Reports and Flagging

If you report or flag a post, we may collect information such as your user account or identifier, the reported post, a reason or category, any optional details you provide, and a timestamp.

Reports may be reviewed by trusted Kami administrators or service providers for safety, support, enforcement, and moderation. We do not review every report immediately, and reporting does not guarantee that content will be removed.

Messages, Posts, and Social Content

Kami may also collect and store messages, replies, reactions, and other content you create or send through the Services. Some content may be visible to other users depending on the feature, such as messages sent to another user or posts made on a place or event wall. We may review, remove, or restrict content when necessary to operate Kami, enforce our rules, investigate abuse, protect users, or comply with law. We do not proactively review every post.

Points, Store, Rewards, and Redemptions

If Kami offers points, rewards, store items, or redemptions, we may collect and process information about your point balance, point activity, reward eligibility, redemption requests, redemption status, and related support or fulfillment communications. We use this information to operate the points and rewards features, prevent fraud or abuse, fulfill eligible rewards, and improve the Services.

Device & Usage Information

We may automatically collect:

We may use device identifiers or push notification tokens to send service, presence, message, points, reward, wall activity, event, or safety-related notifications, depending on your settings and device permissions.

2. How We Use Information

We may use collected information to:

3. Location Services

Kami uses location information to enable core app functionality, including nearby social discovery, place and event presence, context-aware experiences, and related notifications.

Depending on your device permissions, Kami may collect location information while the app is open or running in the background.

You can disable location access at any time through your device settings, though some features may stop functioning properly.

4. How Information Is Shared

We may share limited information:

Trusted Kami administrators and service providers may access uploaded content and report information when needed to operate, support, secure, moderate, or improve Kami.

Depending on how you use Kami, other users may see limited profile information, your username or display name, profile photo, nearby or shared-place presence context, messages you send to them, posts or replies you submit to shared surfaces, and point or reward-related activity if displayed as part of the app experience.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not sell user location histories, movement histories, or unrestricted user-level location data.

5. Venue, Event, Ambassador, and Partner Programs

Kami operates programs that allow approved ambassadors, venues, event organizers, and partners to participate in certain platform features.

Depending on the feature being used, Kami may provide approved partners with:

Kami may limit, aggregate, anonymize, delay, or otherwise restrict information shared with partners at our discretion. Partners do not receive unrestricted access to Kami user data.

Partner Communications

Kami may allow approved ambassadors, venues, event organizers, or partners to communicate with users through Kami-controlled tools and interfaces. Kami may impose limits, moderation controls, eligibility requirements, or other restrictions on such communications.

Referral Programs

Kami may operate ambassador, partner, or user referral programs. Participation in these programs may require tracking referral links, referral activity, reward eligibility, and related program metrics.

Partner Data Restrictions

Approved ambassadors and partners may only access information made available through Kami-authorized tools. They may not:

6. Data Retention

We retain different categories of information for different periods depending on the type of data, the feature involved, and operational, security, legal, or abuse-prevention needs. Account and profile information is generally retained while your account is active.

Uploaded wall posts, photos, and related content may be retained for as long as needed to provide the service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce our rules, and maintain safety. Report and moderation records may be retained for similar purposes. Deleted or removed posts may remain in backups or moderation logs for a limited period if needed for security, recovery, or enforcement.

Other content such as messages, replies, and redemption records may remain until deleted, expired, moderated, or no longer needed. Location, presence, notification, analytics, and diagnostic logs may be retained for limited periods to operate, debug, secure, and improve Kami. Some information may be retained longer where required for legal, safety, fraud-prevention, dispute-resolution, tax or accounting, or compliance reasons.

Users may request account deletion at any time.

Kami is an early-stage beta product. Limited trusted administrators and service providers may access operational, location, user content, uploaded photos, wall posts, reports, messaging, points, reward, and redemption data when necessary to develop, support, moderate, secure, fulfill, and improve the platform.
